‎A training in business plan development and proposal writing, using modern techniques, organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Centre, of Plateau State University, Bokkos, in conjunction with Plateau State Microfinance Development Agency, has come to an end, with a call on participants to put every knowledge gained during the week long program into practice, by using modern skills and abilities learnt, in venturing into activities that will add money to their pockets and raise their standards of living.

‎Addressing final year, 400 level students, at the university, yesterday, Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Shedrack Best, who was represented by Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic, Professor Galadima Moses Pyefa, described the training as a gain, and assured of commitment of PLASU management to ensuring that students of the university are trained to be self-reliant and employers of labour, as the era of depending on government for white collar jobs, are over, saying, “opportunities abound in this country, as you can convert things around you for marketable products” adding that, “big names, like, Konga, Jumia and Temu, all started from somewhere”

‎Best urged them to add to the knowledge aquired, saying, “great entrepreneurs are people who take time to think about their environments and create things out of them”.

‎Director of the centre, Dr Benjamin Miba’am, who thanked Tertiary Education Trust Fund, for the sponsorship, said, he is convinced that, ” the value addition from this training has prepared you, regarding orientation of job-creation, rather than, job seeking”

‎Miba’am described the week as a success and praised the determination of participants to learn.

‎He said the weeklong exercise was divided into two phases, as participants were taught on, business plans and proposal writing, from Monday to Wednesday, while Thursday and Friday were for digital business and marketing.

‎He thanked PLASMIDA for the training and encouraged them to build on what they have learnt, even after school.

‎In a goodwill message, Honorable Bomkam Ali Wuyep, Director of PLASMIDA, who was represented by Barrister Samson Karami, pointed out that, time is coming when you can hardly get salary jobs for yourselves, that is why you are being prepared for the future and urge participants to take advantage of this opportunity, stressing that, those who graduated before them did not enjoy such privilage.

‎He called on the graduands to visit the Job Center at PLASMIDA, where they can be assisted on how to write business plan proposals, write job applications and offered counselings on what to do in life.

‎The director who said, “the training you have received here, has equiped you with lots of information to compete anywhere”, revealed that, “there are many organisations that offer trainings, grants, supports, start-ups, encouragements and technical supports to people with convincing ideas”

‎Other speakers at the event are Professor Jonathan Angbas, former director of the center and Awin Daniel, National President, Sea-Hub Alumni Network.

‎The all encouraged them to be innovative and identify how to present their services better than that of their competitors, in other to remain in business.

‎Some of the participants, Kohon Ishaya, of History and International Studies and Mary Tiseh, of Mass Communications Departments, who shared their gains during the week, described the week as, meaningful. They said, they have learnt how to use, artificial intelligence and different social media handles for content creations and advancement of business, among other things. The ceremony ended with presentations of certificates of attendance to participants.
