Welcome To The Faculty Of Environmental Science

Established in 2013 with Geography as its founding department under pioneer Dean Prof. Dabi Davou Daniel, the Faculty of Environmental Sciences has grown into one of Plateau State University’s most forward-looking faculties. After a period within the Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences, it was re-established in November 2022 under Prof. Danjuma Wurim Dadu, who served as Dean until 17 July 2024. Today, under the leadership of Assoc. Professor Wuyep Solomon Zitta — Dean since 18 July 2024 — the Faculty offers strong professional programmes across three Departments: Architecture, Building and Geography, preparing graduates to design, build and manage sustainable environments. Assoc. Professor Wuyep Solomon Zitta

Dean, Faculty of Environmental Sciences
Dean since 18 July 2024

Wuyep Solomon Zitta holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa, a Master’s degree from the Federal University of Technology, Yola (now Modibbo Adama University) and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Jos. A lecturer in the Department of Geography, he teaches Environmental Resource Management, Remote Sensing and Cartography. His research covers Human–Environment Interaction, Agro-climatology and Climate Change, with publications in local and international journals (Google Scholar). He is a member of the Nigerian Environmental Society and the Association of Nigerian Geographers.
