About the Department

The Department of Medical Laboratory Science trains the scientists behind accurate diagnosis and quality healthcare. Commencing in 2022 with a pioneer intake of 114 students and awarded National Universities Commission approval in 2023, the five-year Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) programme combines rigorous training in the medical laboratory sciences with strong clinical and professional grounding — preparing graduates for practice, research and leadership across the health sector.

Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements — B.MLS

UTME — 100 Level

SSCE credits in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English Language and Mathematics (at most two sittings), plus an acceptable UTME score.

Direct Entry — 200 Level

A-Level or IJMB passes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology, together with five relevant O’Level credits.

Other Routes

Graduates with at least a Second Class Lower in a related discipline, or holders of an MLT certificate, may also be considered.
