Introduction to Science Education
About the Department
The Department of Science Education at Plateau State University, Bokkos, established in the 2023/2024 academic session, trains competent, well-grounded science teachers for Nigeria’s schools. We offer four B.Sc.(Ed) degree programmes — Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics — each blending solid science content with practical teaching skills, aligned with national educational standards. From a pioneer cohort of eighteen students, enrolment grew to sixty-three within a single session — clear evidence of rising confidence in the programme. With dedicated academic staff, close mentorship and individualized instruction, the department, led by Mr. Yilteh Shikbagal Chrysantus, is committed to producing skilled educators who will transform science teaching in secondary schools across the country.
