The Vice-Chancellor of Plateau State University (PLASU), Professor Shedrack Gaya Best, has signaled a new era of campus development following an extensive inspection of ongoing road construction and water infrastructure projects at the University’s main campus.

Accompanied by the university’s principal officers, Professor Best expressed satisfaction with the pace of work, noting that the modern road networks are central to the institution’s growth.

“Once completed, these roads will do more than just ease transportation; they will transform the campus landscape and create a more conducive environment for academic excellence,” the Vice-Chancellor stated. The inspection tour also included a visit to the ongoing Dam Project, a strategic initiative designed to serve both the university and the local host community. The dam is expected to provide a sustainable water supply for the university’s growing population, and facilitate irrigation for dry-season farming in the surrounding Bokkos area.

With the rainy season approaching, Professor Best urged the contractors to expedite construction. He also prioritized community relations by directing the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) to coordinate with local farmers to ensure they can harvest their crops without stalling the project’s progress.

Following the site visit, the university leadership held a consultative meeting with key stakeholders, including the representative of the Butura Development Association, Mr. Philip Julson, and local farmers. The meeting reached a harmonious resolution: construction will continue in tandem with the ongoing harvest.
