Plateau State University, Bokkos, has taken a decisive step towards shaping its future by initiating the development of its first-ever multi-year strategic plan. This landmark move, driven by the administration of Vice Chancellor Prof. Shedrack Best, underscores the university’s commitment to sustainable growth and academic excellence.

Speaking at the opening session of a three-day retreat for the Strategic Planning Committee, Prof. Best emphasised the critical role of a well-defined roadmap in realising the institution’s full potential. He commended the contributions of past administrations in laying a solid foundation for the university.

“We have done well as a university, and I am confident that the future holds far greater promise than we can imagine,” Prof. Best remarked. “Many visionary leaders and administrators have worked tirelessly to establish Plateau State University on the strength of its mission, vision, and motto. Now, it is time to build on that foundation.”

Prof. Best stressed that growth must be anchored on the university’s origins: “If we attempt to expand without reference to where we started, we risk losing our way.” The retreat, which commenced on 16 December, brings together faculty members and representatives of the host community for intensive brainstorming sessions. It will conclude on Thursday, 18 December, paving the way for the technical phase of policy formulation by the Strategic Planning Committee.
