Plateau State Governor, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has inaugurated the Governing Council for Plateau State University, Bokkos, and other tertiary institutions in the state. The inauguration took place at the Victoria Gowon Conference Hall, Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos.
The Governing Council members were sworn in alongside those of Plateau State Polytechnic, Barkin Ladi, and College of Education, Gindiri. Professor Shedrack Gaya Best, Acting Vice Chancellor of Plateau State University, Bokkos, and other principal officers were present to receive the highest decision-making body in the university system.
Governor Mutfwang emphasized the importance of education in national development and pledged to allocate resources to support the sector’s growth. He congratulated the appointees, charging them to serve diligently and bring excellence to the institutions.

During the inauguration, Governor Mutfwang announced the merger of the Ministry of Higher Education with the Ministry of Secondary Education, aligning with his “Time is Now” administration. He also introduced the new Ministry of Livestock and Husbandry to address food insecurity and unemployment challenges in the state and country.
Additionally, Governor Mutfwang inaugurated five new members of the state Executive Council, all of whom are commissioners.
With the Governing Council in place, Plateau State University is poised for significant growth, as promised by Governor Mutfwang.
