Welcome to the Faculty of Health Science at Plateau State University, Bokkos!
The Faculty of Health Sciences at Plateau State University, Bokkos, was completed under the leadership of then Vice-Chancellor Professor Yohana Daniel Izam and commissioned by former NUC Executive Secretary, Professor Suleiman Bogoro. The Faculty comprises three departments—Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing Science, and Public Health Science—offering accredited Bachelor’s degree programmes, with admissions beginning in the 2023/2024 academic session. It has established 30% CCMAS benchmarks, student handbooks, and equipped laboratories. Lecturers from respective fields, including Human Anatomy and Physiology, support academic delivery. Rooted in the University’s 2005 founding vision, the Faculty is committed to training competent health professionals, conducting impactful research, and providing community-based healthcare services aligned with Plateau State and national development goal.

Dr. Sarah Samson Jatau
Dean, Faculty of Health Science
Dr. Sarah, PhD, MPH, BSc, DHSM, is a Lecturer in the Department of Public Health Science and currently serves as the Coordinator of the Faculty of Health Science at Plateau State University, Bokkos, Nigeria. She holds a PhD and MPH in Public Health from Charisma University, with a focus on Applied Epidemiology and International Public Health, a diploma in Health System Management from Galilee International Management Institute, Israel, and a BSc in Chemistry from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. With extensive experience in public health, she served as a UNICEF consultant from 2004 to 2016 on the Polio Eradication Programme across several northern states in Nigeria, later joining CDC-AFENET for malaria control (2016–2020) and MST for immunization initiatives (2020–2022). Driven by a passion for public health, she transitioned into academia to mentor and train the next generation of public health professionals.
