ALGON Plateau State Branch Awards Over 600 Million Naira Contract for Anatomy Laboratory at PLASU
The Plateau State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has awarded a contract exceeding 600 million Naira for the construction of a Dissection Laboratory at Plateau State University (PLASU), Bokkos.
This initiative highlights the strong partnership between the 17 local government councils of the state and the university, following ALGON’s recent donation of 32-seater buses to the institution. The construction contract has been awarded to Debdans Multibic Nigeria Limited, while Arcproden Design Associates
Limited will act as the consulting firm. During the ALGON delegation’s visit, PLASU Vice-Chancellor Professor Shedrack Best commended the initiative, calling it a major milestone in the university’s infrastructural development.
“When we see the co-owners of this university taking financial responsibilities such as this, it gladdens my heart and inspires us to serve with even greater zeal,” Professor Best stated.
He also shared the university’s plans to construct a dam and expand its academic programs, emphasizing the need for ongoing collaboration and support from key stakeholders.
Professor Best expressed gratitude to the university’s Governing Council and the Visitor and Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, for mobilizing local government chairmen to support the university’s growth.
“We will closely monitor the execution of this project to ensure it meets the highest quality standards,” he added. In his remarks, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy
Affairs, Hon. Ephraim Usman, reaffirmed the Mutfwang administration’s commitment to enhancing learning-conducive infrastructure across the state.
“Our children are the direct beneficiaries of this university, and we remain committed to driving positive change in PLASU,” he said.
The ALGON delegation included Hon. Patrick Dung, Chairman of Jos South Local Government Council; Hon. Sunday Riti, Chairman of Bassa Local Government; and Hon. Amallau Samuel Amallau, Chairman
of Bokkos Local Government. A highlight of the event was the signing of the contract documents and the handover of the project site to the contractor, located opposite the Faculty of Health Sciences at the university. Engineer Timothy Tola, the contractor, assured the university community of a durable, high-quality structure that will stand the test of time.
