Strengthening Excellence as PLASU Vows Continuous Improvement of Facilities Following NUC Accreditation.
Plateau State University (PLASU), Bokkos, has reaffirmed its commitment to continually improving its facilities to promote quality teaching, research, and learning across the campus. The Vice Chancellor Professor Shedrack Best, gave this assurance while receiving reports from
the National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation team. The accreditation team, who assessed the Departments of Mass Communication
And Geography, commended the University for its Steady Progress while also providing constructive observations designed to help strengthen academic standards.
Expressing gratitude to the teams, Professor Best described the accreditation process as a welcome opportunity for the University to be objectively evaluated.
“Accreditation offers us the opportunity to see how we are being judged from a neutral point of view. Some of the areas you rightly noted are already ongoing projects, and we assure you that in no distant time, we will improve on them,” he said.
The Vice-Chancellor further disclosed that strategic plans are underway to unbundle the Mass
Communication programme from the Faculty of Social Sciences into a new Faculty of Media Studies. This new faculty will comprise nine departments, fully aligned with national guidelines (CCMAS).
On core infrastructure, Professor Best revealed that the University is actively working towards constructing a dam to definitively address long-standing water supply challenges and improve sanitation within the campus.
