The Plateau State University (PLASU) Bokkos recently organized a special training for administrative staff of its registry department with the aim of enhancing the university’s administrative capacity and efficiency.
The Registrar of the university, Mr. Yakubu Ayuba, during the training, describing it as an effort to “oil the wheels of administration in PLASU”.
He highlighted that the training is the first in a series of in-house trainings for the staff of the Registry Department, aimed at sharpening their skills for improved administrative services within the university.
Objectives and Focus of the Training
During the one-day training held on July 11, the focus was on sharpening the skills of Administrative Officers to enhance their efficiency in providing administrative services to the various units of the university. The Registrar also emphasized that the training is in line with the mentoring mandate to train and enhance the capacity of Senior Registry Staff for maximum output.
Additionally, the training aimed to identify the strengths of individual administrative staff for specific role assignments, said the Registrar.
Future Training Plans
The Registrar also outlined the university’s plans for periodic training, indicating that the next cadres of Registry Staff to be trained will be the Executive Officers, followed by the Confidential Secretaries and Clerks.
Acknowledgment and Commitment
Mr. Yakubu Ayuba expressed gratitude to the Ag. Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Shedrack Best for providing the enabling environment and funding for the training.
He assured the Vice-Chancellor of the commitment to ensuring that the staff of the Registry department are well-trained and positioned to render effective and efficient services to the various units of the University.
Training Content and Interaction
The training covered a wide range of topics, including minutes and report writing, memo writing, as well as professionalism and work ethics. Participants were encouraged to ask questions and make suggestions on areas needing clarification and/or improvement.
