Section 1: What is this Call About?

The Directorate of Research and Development (DRD) invites academic staff to apply for funding under the TETFund Institution‑Based Research Grant Scheme. Research proposals must clearly align with one or more Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). All submissions must be made through the online portal.

Section 2: Who Can Apply?

Principal Investigator:
• Full‑time permanent academic staff of PLASU
• Minimum rank: Lecturer II
• One proposal only as PI

Research Team:
• Mandatory team-based proposals
• 3–7 members
• At least two departments represented
• Include at least one early‑career researcher

Section 3: Thematic Clusters

1. Health, Nutrition & Well‑Being
2. Agriculture, Food Systems & Rural Livelihoods
3. Energy, Environment & Climate Action
4. Water, Sanitation & Hygiene
5. Education, Skills & Innovation
6. Digital Economy, ICT & Industry 4.0
7. Governance, Peace, Justice & Institutions
8. Gender, Social Protection & Inclusion
9. Sustainable Cities, Infrastructure & Planning
10. Mining, Solid Minerals & Environmental Remediation

Section 4: Grant Tracks

Track A – Exploratory / Seed Research
• Sciences: up to ₦2,500,000
• Non‑Sciences: up to ₦2,000,000
• Duration: 12 months

Track B – Applied / Translational Research
• Sciences: up to ₦5,000,000
• Non‑Sciences: up to ₦4,000,000
• Duration: 12–18 months

Section 5: Application Process

1. Register on the grants portal
2. Prepare proposal
3. Prepare supporting documents
4. Prepare budget spreadsheet
5. Sign declaration
6. Save submission receipt

Section 6: Evaluation Criteria

SDG Alignment & Development Relevance – 30 points
Scientific Merit & Methodological Rigour – 25 points
Innovation & Originality – 15 points
Translational Potential & Impact – 15 points
Team Competence & Interdisciplinarity – 10 points
Budget Justification & Feasibility – 5 points

Section 7: Awardee Obligations

Submit inception, progress and final reports.
Acknowledge TETFund funding in publications.
Attend dissemination activities.
Obtain Research Ethics Committee clearance before field or laboratory work.
