Plateau State University (PLASU) is set to host the 4th business meeting of the Association of Registrars of Nigerian Universities (ARNU) in May 2026. The university was awarded the hosting rights following a unanimous vote by association members during a recent congress, according to ARNU Chairman Dr. Bala Isyaka Ahmed II.

During the presentation of the award letter to Vice Chancellor Prof. Shedrack Best on February 13, Ahmed, who serves as the Registrar of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) and is the inaugural President of the newly formed African Universities Registrars Association (AURA), acknowledged PLASU’s ongoing expansions as a key factor in the decision to host the event.

Ahmed emphasized the significance of the gathering:

“For us at ARNU, it’s not just about meetings. We engage in meaningful discussions and conduct an annual workshop and retreat. This year’s business meeting at PLASU will feature invited experts who will share insights on university administration. We rotate venues between the north and south every year, and this year, the association unanimously chose PLASU,” he stated.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Shedrack Best expressed gratitude for the opportunity, stating, “We welcome registrars from all Nigerian universities with open arms.”

“We are committed to collaborating to achieve the objectives of this meeting and to foster a productive environment for brainstorming, aiming to enhance the administration of the universities represented,” he added, highlighting the vital role of the Registrar as “the engine and brain of the university system.”
