Mr. Sati Satmer Dapel is a
distinguished professional who has been appointed to lead the Directorate of
Information Communication Technology (ICT). This appointment signals the
University’s deep commitment to embracing digital transformation,
infrastructure resilience, and cybersecurity as a pilar of its future growth.
Mr. Dapel is a seasoned Computer
Networking Specialist and Consultant bringing over 22 years of hand on the job
cum practical and field experience to this critical role. He is widely
recognized across Nigeria and Africa for his profound technical expertise,
focused leadership, and unwavering commitment to digital advancement within
both academic and professional spheres. His career has been characterized by
successfully bringing the gap between theoretical knowledge and large-scale
practical implementation.
Prior to joining the team at PLASU,
Mr. Dapel served the University of Jos (UNIJOS) with distinction in several
capacities within the ICT Directorate. His progression through the rank
including Senior Network Administrator and Programmer, Assistant Director
Network Administration and Deputy Director, Network and internet Services,
demonstrates a sustained commitment to institutional development. In these
roles, he was instrumental in driving network infrastructure development,
cybersecurity enhancement and the deployment of crucial digital learning
initiatives.
Mr. Dapel is a Strategist in
networking and cyber security with global influence that extends well beyond a
single institution. He currently holds multiple strategic leadership positions
that underscore his stature in the Nigerian ICT community.
He is currently the Acting Chairman,
Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Plateau State Chapter. Coordinator, Internet
Society of Nigeria (ISOC), North-Central Zone and Cisco Instructor Trainer for
West Africa.
Notably, as a Cisco Instructor
Trainer, Mr. Dapel has directly empowered the next generation of professionals
by training over 3,600 Cisco instructors and more than 13,800 students across
Africa in his Kitty, providing them with globally recognized technical
competencies.
His extensive knowledge base is
validated by strong academic credentials, including a Master’s Degree in
Information Technology and Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from the
prestigious University of Jos. This academic foundation is powerfully reinforced
by formidable list of industry-based professional certifications, highlighting
his expertise across diverse technological stacks. These certifications
including but not limited to Cisco CCNA, CyberOps, CCNA Security, and Certified
CISCO Cybersecurity Operations Instructor Trainer.
Also, to his credentials, Mr. Dapel
is a Mirkrotik MTCNA, MTCRE, MTCWE, and MTCTUE (Traffic Control & User
Management Engineer).
A Huawei HCIA, HCIA-Security, and
Huawei Certified Academic instructor (HCAI), alongside other key certifications
such as Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) and Juniper Networks
Certifications (IJOS, Junos Security).
Mr. Dapel is an esteemed member of
the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), the Computer Professionals (Registration
Council) of Nigeria (CPN), the Internet Society of Nigeria (ISOC Nigeria), and
the Cybersecurity Experts Association of Nigeria (CSEAN)
His extensive track record, strategic vision, and commitment to excellence position him as the ideal leader to guide the PLASU ICT Directorate into a new era of digital innovation. His life and career are profound testament of diligence, technical mastery, and a dedication to advancing digital literacy in Nigeria and beyond.
