About the Department

Mathematics is the language of science, technology and modern problem-solving. The Department of Mathematics at Plateau State University, Bokkos gives students a strong foundation in pure and applied mathematics — from algebra, analysis and statistics to modelling and computation — developing the analytical and quantitative skills valued across research, education, finance, data science and technology.

Entry Requirements

Admission is by UTME (four-year programme) or Direct Entry (three-year programme). UTME candidates need at least five SSCE credit passes including English Language and Mathematics, plus an acceptable UTME score. Full subject combinations and Direct Entry details for the B.Sc. Mathematics programme will be published by the Department.

A copy of your O’Level result

The result must include a minimum of five credits in the following subjects in not more than two sittings:
 
  1. English Language
  2. Mathematics
  3. Physics
  4. Chemistry
  5. Any other subjects

Please note that submission of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) results is  not mandatory at this stage. However, upon admission to the university, the provided results will be thoroughly verified for authenticity and compliance with the stated criteria, including JAMB Registration.
