Introduction to Sociology
Sociology is the systematic study of human society — its relationships, institutions, cultures and change. The Department of Sociology at Plateau State University, Bokkos equips students to understand and address real social issues: crime and security, health, population, family, work and development. Through rigorous training in social theory, research methods and data analysis, our graduates go on to careers in research, social work, criminology, public policy, development and beyond.
100 Level Admissions | Direct Entry Admissions
Admission Requirements
Admission is by UTME (four-year programme) or Direct Entry (three-year programme). UTME candidates need at least five SSCE credit passes including English Language, plus an acceptable UTME score. Full subject combinations and Direct Entry details for the B.Sc. Sociology programme will be published by the Department.
A copy of your O’Level result
Please note that submission of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) results is not mandatory at this stage. However, upon admission to the university, the provided results will be thoroughly verified for authenticity and compliance with the stated criteria, including JAMB Registration.
