The Faculty of Arts, Plateau State University Bokkos was established in 2013 when the programmes in the faculty were moved from the then School of Arts and Social Sciences as the university began operating the faculty system. The faculty has three degree awarding programmes in its departments:

Since its inception, the faculty has produced a total of two hundred and seventy two (272) graduates.
The Faculty of Arts has well trained and dedicated lecturers with various specializations and track records of research activities required for the effective training of students. The faculty has maintained its vision of pursuing research and training in the humanities through integrated team work with its successive deans:

The faculty staff engage in a range of research activities and community service notable among which is the research on and the recording, transcription and translation of folktales, songs, proverbs and riddles from Plateau State tribes conducted by the Department of English Language, the community theatre outreach of the Department of Theatre Arts, all sponsored withTETFund institute based research (IBR) grants. In addition, individual faculty members conduct researches, with some on postdoctoral research outside the country, and a trail of presentation of academic papers at local and international conferences. The vivacity of the staff is reflected in the students, some of whom have won national and international awards.
