The newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Plateau State University, Bokkos Professor Yohanna Izam has described the young University as a bundle of potential for the branding of the State and the entire Nation if properly exploited and managed.

Professor Izam made this known when he presented his vision to the University Senate which represents the highest Academic decision making organ for the Institution.

Professor Izam observed that every University's mandate is manifested in the effectiveness of teaching, research and community service and as such developing a competitive plan of action for a systematic, dynamic, measurable, comprehensive, progressive, and implementable institutional governance structure that will guarantee the achievement of this mandate is inevitable.

He therefore urged the Senate to join hands with him in achieving his vision for the university as entrenched in the creation of a conducive atmosphere that will guarantee the attainment of the University's mandate.

He explained that in his vision, training, staffing, befitting University infrastructure, beautification and landscaping have been prioritized. Other areas articulated in the vision include: the completion of the University's strategic plan, security of staff, students and University's property, relocation of Principal Officers of the University back on campus, adequate water supply and recirculation among others.

Professor Izam who added that he will encourage the emergence of clubs and societies and extra curricular activities to enhance the discovery of talents among students pledged to explore alternative non government funding mechanisms by meaningfully engaging the private sector, well wishers and friends of the University to invest in driving the Institution's infrastructural expansion initiative and deficit.

He stated that as the Chief Advancement Officer of the University, he will aggressively seek after linkages and collaborations that will help turn the fortunes of the Institution around and make it adequately competitive in every way possible.
