Established in 2005, the University Library of the Plateau State University is located at the main campus of the University.
The Library has a total holding of over 16,000 volumes of books and 283 current periodical titles. The University library has always been at the centre of research and scholarship, playing a major role in the acquisition, processing and the dissemination of library information materials while responding to patrons’ inquires.
The library management has been striving to teach the rudiments of library operations to junior staff through in-house organized training as well as on-the-job training while upgrading the senior staff by sending them on the in-service postgraduate programmes.
ICT unit is being proposed with the aim of teaching IT skills to the staff to be able to cope with challenges of the information age. And the National Communication Commission is being approached for an e-library to boost our online resources.
Efforts are in top gear to utilize the TETFUND Award in updating the library print collection and its e-library for the purpose of meeting the accreditation needs.
The mission of PLASU Library is to support the current and anticipated teaching, learning, and research as well as community service activities of the University through provision of relevant information resources, facilities, services and personnel.
